Programme ITERA

5 September, 2018

The programme ITERA was developed to support the creation of heart failure (HF) clinics in Spain by providing logistical support and professional training.

The programme made a number of tools available to support people to live well with HF:

  • A guide explaining what HF is, including symptoms and causes, possible treatment and general recommendations
  • A chart for control of medication
  • A guide with detailed dietary recommendations
  • A guide of recommended exercises
  • A chart to record weight measurements and to help the person identify when escalation to a healthcare professional is needed.

ITERA has since developed into the programme PRISMA, which also focuses on promoting integrated HF management programmes.
