Webinar recording: ‘Freedom from heart failure: reimagining cardiac services in England’

On Wednesday 12 May 2021, the Heart Failure Policy Network (HFPN) and the British Society for Heart Failure (BSH) co-hosted Freedom from heart failure: reimagining cardiac services in England, bringing together leading experts in cardiovascular disease to discuss the future of cardiac services.

The Chair, Mr Ed Harding (Network Director, HFPN) opened the webinar with a brief introduction to the societal impact of heart failure. Next, Professor Nick Linker (National Clinical Director for Heart Disease, NHS England & NHS Improvement) explained the new regional structures of the NHS and cardiac services in England. Dr Simon Williams (Chair, BSH) then turned the focus to new leadership opportunities for heart failure specialists before Dr Hugh McIntyre (Chair,NICE QSAC3) explained how efforts in heart failure fit within the broader context of cardiovascular care. Finally, Dr Sonya Babu-Narayan (Associate Medical Director, British Heart Foundation) ended on an inspiring note, encouraging the heart failure clinical community to get involved and drive improvements in care for people living with heart failure and other chronic diseases. The event finished with a short Q&A session with all speakers.
