Members of the HFPN secretariat have attended an event hosted by the World Heart Federation and the Global Coalition on Aging, called ‘Iron deficiency & heart failure: what do you need to know?’
The event, held in Brussels to mark Iron Deficiency Day, brought together European policymakers, healthcare professionals and patient representatives. It featured presentations from four speakers, followed by a panel discussion moderated by World Heart Federation President-Elect Professor Fausto Pinto.
Iron deficiency is a common comorbidity of heart failure, potentially contributing to poorer clinical outcomes.
The HFPN is currently developing a report on iron deficiency in heart failure, due to be published in 2020 as part of the new Spotlight series.
