AVEC is a French patient-led heart failure patient support and advocacy group. Established in 2013, the group directly provides patient therapeutic education workshops in collaboration with health care professionals. These workshops not only deal with the clinical aspects of heart failure, but offer practical day-to-day advice on the difficulties encountered by people living with heart failure and on managing their treatment plans. AVEC also collaborates nationally and internationally with health care professionals, patient advocacy and policy networks in order to change policy, provide support and encourage research into heart failure. The group also aims to increase public, governmental and health care professionals’ awareness of heart failure and of patient need and wishes. AVEC firmly believe that the patient is a stakeholder in policy, the decisions made concerning the patient pathway, and more.
