Gabriele Meyer has worked in nursing for more than 46 years. Her career has primarily centred around cardiology, and she has spent 26 years working in the cardiology department at the Nuremberg Clinic, Germany. Gabriele’s passion for heart health led her to further her education, becoming a certified nursing expert for individuals with heart failure in 2009. This additional training allowed her to provide enhanced care for her patients, which she initially offered in her own overtime hours. Only in 2018, with increasing recognition of the role of heart failure nurses in Germany, was she able to transition into working full time as a heart failure nurse. Gabriele is also deputy director of the German heart failure patient advocacy organisation ‘Herzschwäche Deutschland’.
