Josep Comin-Colet obtained his MD from the University of Barcelona in 1992, trained in internal medicine in the UK from 1993 to 1994 and received specialist training in cardiology at the Hospital of Bellvitge in Barcelona, Spain, from 1996 to 2001. He was a Visiting Faculty at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (Baltimore, Maryland, USA) in 2007. He obtained his PhD at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in May 2012. Dr Comin-Colet is currently Director of the Department of Cardiology at Bellvitge University Hospital of the Catalan Institute of Health (l’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona, Spain), Director of the South Metropolitan Barcelona Integrated Heart Failure Program, Professor of Cardiology at the University of Barcelona School of Medicine and Director of the BIO-HEART Cardiovascular Disease Research group at the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL). His research career, mainly translational, has been orientated towards producing significant advances to be translated into meaningful quality-of-care improvements in real-world practice. He has published more than 290 scientific articles (61% as first, last senior or corresponding author) in international medicine and cardiology journals according to Web of Science (WoS). These include The Lancet, Nature Medicine, European Heart Journal, Circulation Heart Failure, and The American Heart Journal. His papers have an H-index of 38 (WoS) and more than 7,800 citations (5,400 in the last 5 years).
