Luis Filipe Pereira was Health Minister of Portugal (2002–05), Secretary of State for Energy (1991–95) and Secretary of State for Social Security (1987–89). He is currently President of the AADIC (Association for Support to Patients with Heart Failure). Prior to this, he was President of the Economic and Social Council of Portugal (2015–16). He holds a degree in economics from the Instituto Superior de Economia, University of Lisbon. Dr Pereira has been awarded the Honorific Order ‘Grã Cruz da Ordem de Mérito’ by the President of the Portuguese Republic (2016) and the Gold Medal of Distinguished Services by the Ministry of Health of Portugal (2014).
