Matthew Kahn is a Consultant Cardiologist with a specialist interest in advanced heart failure and complex devices. He is passionate about the early diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart failure. From April 2017, he was the Heart Failure and Device Lead for the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, where he worked across several hospitals. During his time there, he helped set up the award-winning ‘Primary Care Heart Failure Service’. This service provides specialist heart failure support to GP practices, helping them identify and care for heart failure patients more effectively within the community. He now works at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital and is the Cheshire & Mersey Network Lead for Heart Failure and Complex Devices. He maintains a strong research interest and continues to develop and grow the Primary Care Heart Failure Service. This unique service aims to identify misdiagnosed patients with heart failure in the community, facilitating appropriate treatment moving forwards. The project recently won a Health Service Journal (HSJ) award for the 'Most Impactful Project Addressing Health Inequalities'.
