Tiny Jaarsma is Full Professor in Nursing at Linköping University in Sweden and at the University Medical Center Utrecht in the Netherlands. Tiny has spent most of her working life in research and nursing. Her main scientific achievement is the integration of current scientific knowledge with sociological theory, which culminated in the publication of ‘the middle-range theory of self-care in chronic illness’, developed with professors Anna Strömberg and Barbara Riegel. She is currently involved in research related to chronic care, with a focus on developing and testing interventions to improve self-care in people with heart failure.
